History

In the 1980s, a group envisioned a purpose-built center for yoga in West Cork, leading to the establishment of the 'Satsang Ashram Trust' in 1989. Fundraising efforts and community support enabled the purchase of the land, with planning permission granted in 1994. The name 'An Sanctóir' was chosen in 1998, and charitable status was received in 2000.

Community Employment

Engaging with Community Employment Schemes, we foster community connections. Participants contribute to office operations, building maintenance, and land care, embodying the spirit of community involvement.

Management

Registered as Charity CHY13347, An Sanctóir is managed by a Trust—a legally incorporated, non-profit company. Trustees, dedicated to the center's growth, oversee day-to-day operations. Monthly meetings and diverse skills contribute to fundraising, maintenance, and new ventures.
