“Moving in stillness”

Yoga retreat weekend

With Bella Hancock and Corinna Fisher

24th-26th February 2012

In an atmosphere of retreat, this weekend will provide an opportunity to step back, to reconnect with ourselves and what we need, and to breathe into the present moment.

Yoga is an ancient healing system; a creative philosophy that promotes integration of the physical and spiritual to achieve a sense of wellbeing and connection. Yoga practice aims to balance and harmonise body, mind and emotion through slowing down, releasing tension and stress, paying attention to our breath and finding stillness

An Sanctoir based teachers, Bella Hancock and Corinna Fisher will guide you through the weekend, offering many of the diverse aspects of yoga as well as core posture work. The focus will be as much on relaxation and rejuvenation as it is on stretching and alignment.

The weekend will be based on Hatha Yoga practice ; Asana (including Vinyasa flow, and gentle Restorative postures), Pranayama, Yoga nidra, moving/ sitting meditations, Mantra chanting and Mudra (sacred gesture). We will offer simple effective practices that are easy to incorporate into a daily yoga practice.

There will also be an opportunity each day to treat yourself to a Thai yoga massage treatment. This technique is highly beneficial, deeply relaxing and complimentary to yoga practice (please let us know in advance if you would like to book a treatment) .

Corinna has a foundation in dance, having completed a dance and movement degree 20 years ago. Body work including the Alexander technique and forms of massage are of ongoing interest to her. These formative pathways have led to Yoga and with the support of a teacher training certificate, Corinna now teaches regularly in west cork. It is Yoga with the compliment of Thai Yoga Massage that has become Corinna's passion and purpose.

Bella has been practicing Yoga since teens, in 2000 she trained as a teacher with Contemporary yoga, Cork. Bella has now been teaching Yoga for nine years and finds inspiration through her students ,her teachers and the wonderful human body. She has studied  with renowned teachers such as Margaret Hardman, Sophie Hoare, Diane Long, Donna Farhi, Uma Dinsmore-Tuli and teachers from the Satyananda school. She is drawn to an approach that arises from personal enquiry. Bella is also a teacher of Pre and Post natal yoga, and teaches yoga to children.
