An Sanctoir - West Cork's Holistic Center

Robin Williamson, co-founder of The Incredible String Band, is visiting Ireland in July and will be playing his first gig of the tour in An Sanctoir, Ballydehob near Bantry.

His music draws from his early Scottish folk club days with Bert Jansch, The Incredible String Band, (described as ‘One of the few good bands who played at Woodstock’),  his time in the USA entertaining with The Merry Band, and his journey into Celtic mythology and stories and his past 25 years as a bard, becoming Honorary Chief Bard of The Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids.
.
He now performs solo events at  which he plays original, traditional, folk, visionary and spiritual material from many roots. This is real music, magical simple funky and true. He sometimes plays concerts with John Renbourn and sacred events with his beautiful talented wife Bina.  He also gives workshops on Celtic Mythology and story telling and has written many interesting books, including The Craneskin Bag.   His current record, Just Like a River and other Songs with a Guitar, is available from:
www.quadrantcorner.com   There are at least 14 Incredible String Band albums featuring Robin, 3 Merry Men band CDs, a CD with John Renbourn which won an award, countless solo CDs, at least 25 of those, there is a beautiful CD, soon to be released, with his wife Bina that includes some of the Psalms set to ancient music.   Robin has an eclectic fan base with many celebrity fans including Mick Jagger and the late Princess Diana. Perhaps the most devoted celebrity fan is Robert Plant who is said to have wanted Led Zeppelin to do a cover of one of Robin's songs to which John Bonham said "feck off!", or similar. So Robert Plant grew a beard to look like Robin then tried to write a song like Robin and from this the phenomenal "Stairway To Heaven!" was created. This song has been played over 3 million times on the radio and sold over 1 million copies of the sheet music.   HIs music helps people of all cultures and ages to feel good. It is both full of soul and highly entertaining,

Make the effort and take advantage of this chance to hear a musical legend in concert.
